I think it's rather fitting that I just got done with an album entitled Months Vol. 1. So much of my life these days consists of consistently thinking 3 months ahead. And because of that the months seem to have added meaning because of the places, people and memories i have attached to them.
Months Vol. 1 (which one can listen to at
myspace.com/dawsonandmarie) is a collaboration with singer/songwriter
Marlana Sheetz. Marlana and I had started songs together in the summer of '08 and one day after playing at a wedding on a overcast day in Central California I sent her a text message that said "it feels like December at the beach". She wrote back and said, "that sounds like a song title"... and thus the months album concept was born.
The second half of the year is going to be a little slower. In the last 6 months, I've played 70 shows in 4 states. We are gonna be working on a new record with the band the second half of the year and, mostly, staying around Sacramento/Northern California.
Very soon we are gonna be launching a new section of the website. For our currently Untitled next album, we are looking for donors/sponsors; and in return these people will get different gifts as well as exclusive access to behind the scenes video, photos, and blogs of the band in the recording process. It is a new era for music and we are looking for a new way to interact with ours fans on our musical journey.
